The Hans and Ilse Breuer Foundation was founded in 2000 by the entrepreneur Hans Breuer. After his death in 2003, his eldest son Peter Breuer took over the chair of the Board of Trustees. Since then, he has been strategically and financially very committed to the foundation.
The foundation has set itself the task of decisively improving the living situation of people with dementia and their relatives. To this end, the non-profit foundation based in Frankfurt am Main pursues two goals: help and research – with its commitment to helping those affected and promoting basic scientific as well as health care research on Alzheimer’s research and other dementias. The Hans and Ilse Breuer Foundation supports projects in the areas of care and therapy that make a significant contribution to making life easier for people with dementia and their family members and, in particular, to show alternatives in home care. As a separate pilot project in the care of people with dementia, the foundation has set up a dementia center under the name „StattHaus“ Offenbach after extensive renovation as a counseling, support and meeting center in a listed Wilhelminian style villa.
In addition, it is a matter of personal concern to all members of the Board of Trustees to promote basic scientific and health care research on dementia by awarding an Alzheimer’s Research Prize and doctoral scholarships, and to support existing networks.
